Ferrari has the distinction of being the oldest team in Formula 1, their participation in the event beginning in its first year, on the 21st of May at the famous Monte Carlo circuit. Ferrari are also the most successful team in the history of Formula 1, having accumulated 14 Constructor’s Championships since it was introduced in 1958 (previously having two drivers win three of the Driver’s Championships). The driver’s for 2007 have some big shoes to fill, with the retirement of Michael Schumacher who brought them 6 consecutive Constructor’s Championships between 1999 and 2004, winning 5 Driver’s titles in the process. Ferrari will be hoping that Felipe Massa, who impressed in his first season with Ferrari, and new recruit Kimi Raikkonen are capable of making the loss of Formula 1’s most successful ever driver painless. |
